Focus
Often times we can get bogged down with day to day worries and stresses. We can let what happens at work dictate what happens at home. We can allow the rhythm of home to be broken if we let strife with others get in the way. Over the past few weeks life has been getting crazy. It's summer and the life of a children's minister is ramped up and some times can get out of control. For me this is the second most busy time of the year (Upward season being the most), but summer is often the most stressful. Preparing for the fall, all the while doing the day in day out work, and add to it special summer events. Life can get stressful. What I have to do in those times is focus on the eternal. Focus on what is really important. If I am not reflecting the glory of God, if what I am doing is not pleasing to Him, then I am not honoring Him. At the end of the day (and by that I mean life), if I can look back and say and see that what I was doing was honoring and pleasing to God, then these times of distraction and stress don't seem to matter as much.
